Lapislazzuli engraved, 750 / °° yellow gold.

After two years of pandemic, where we had to close ourselves to the world, I wanted to create this new series of pendants inspired by the sacred scarabs of ancient Egypt, as a symbol of rebirth and a better future.

In the culture of ancient Egypt, the scarab was a symbol of resurrection and eternal rebirth in becoming and transforming, ensuring only happy events and a constant improvement of the intuitive and spiritual faculties.

After tektite, amber and turquoise, my research on scarab engraving continues. I engraved this pendant using beautiful natural lapis lazuli, di un colore blu intenso, puntinato da piccole inclusioni naturali bianche.

The use of this gem dates back to the 5th millennium BC., at the time it was widely used, for example, for the manufacture of jewels found in Pharaonic tombs in Egypt. Even in the era of ancient Babylon, lapis lazuli was particularly used. It is famous Carrier of Ishtar which served as the main entrance to the great city of Babylon.

I then forged the loop in yellow gold 18 k, as always, by hand, in my laboratory with traditional equipment.
Measurements of the pencil scarab: mm 18×19. Total height of the pendant: mm 27. Internal diameter of the gold loop: mm 5 circa.
