Black mother of pearl, air 750 / °°.

The beauty of research is that sometimes you find unexpected materials. Looking at collectible shells,(Atrina standard) I thought that the beautiful transparencies of the black mother-of-pearl I had in my hand could have become jewels.

And here are the New black mother-of-pearl earrings and 750 / °° yellow gold satin. Two large irregular trapezoidal plates with softly rounded edges and corners. The shape of these earrings comes from my research on 1960s design, ”SIXTIES” precisely.

The plates in black mother of pearl, with warm red transparencies, they have been drawn and cut by hand in my workshop. I cut the mother of pearl by hand piece by piece with the help of simple and essential tools and without computerized serial production machinery.

With these new formal searches, I made a series of earrings with soft geometries large in size but extremely light, thanks to very low thicknesses.

The frame, made exclusively to accompany these earrings, it is in 750 / °° yellow gold (18k) with retractable hook. The shape of the gold plates repeats the design of the mother-of-pearl plate by stylizing it and overturning it. The gold parts are entirely handmade with traditional techniques piece by piece.
