A large necklace of oval elements by adularia white and rosé color with an important black and gold closure.

I created this major necklace starting from large elements in adularia in warm shades ranging from white to pink, tagliati in forma di piastre ovali liscie. Per la chiusura ho scolpito una grande piastra in ebano, of the same form as adularia, drilled at one end. I forged a gold hammer with two small boules of adularia and smoky quartz, which fits easily into the hole in the ebony.

I put on this rosary necklace, with burnished silver wire, to create the right contrast with the shades of the moonstone.

L’adularia è un minerale della sottoclasse dei tettosilicati appartenente al gruppo dei feldspati. Deriva il suo nome dal massiccio dell’Adula, on Alpi Lepontine, in Switzerland, where it was discovered in 1780.

It's a variety of orthoclase, also said ortose, name still used today and which derives from Greek orthòs=straight, due to its cleavage along the directions of the prism.

It is often sold as adularia (or Moonstone), the labradorite bianca (often called ”rainbow moonstone) which is similar, but it is not the same mineral.

A method to recognize it is also the price, true flattery is priced by the carat, being very expensive, while the white labradorite being less valuable costs very little.
