Gold and pink coral necklace. Important long necklace in pink coral ”FORBIDDEN CITY”.

Pink coral, buffalo horn, yellow gold, burnished silver.

Necklace length cm 78 circa; central measures cm 7 x 16 circa.

Following a visit to a beautiful exhibition on imperial China, and impressed by the very high quality and variety of the jewels on display, I thought of making a small series of necklaces dedicated to the emperor's city, calling it precisely, ''FORBIDDEN CITY''.

I then created this high quality soft pink gold and pink coral long necklace (generally called 'white coral') cut into small stones. For the central I used a large disk in black horn with inlaid gold curls and a large drop of coral. Above the disc I made a frieze with burnished gold and silver to give an antique patina to the whole jewel. E’ certainly a necklace of great value that will be able to

The 'white coral' variety 'Midway”, comes from the Pacific Ocean, it is fished at great depths and is often large. In general it is white with shades and petal pink spots, glassy and bright. The value of this large necklace lies in the size of the coral and in the shade of a uniform and very delicate pale pink.

Parts in 750 / °° yellow gold and burnished 925 / °° silver, they are all worked and embossed with techniques I invented in my laboratory, obviously by hand and with traditional equipment.
