Long necklace in akoya pearls ''FORBIDDEN CITY''.

Pearls akoya barocche mm 7,5 , 'Cooked' nephrite jade, yellow gold, burnished silver.

Necklace length cm 74 circa; central measures cm 4,5 x 13 circa.

Following a visit to a beautiful exhibition on imperial China, and given the very high quality and variety of the jewels on display, I started creating a small series of necklaces dedicated to the emperor's city, calling it precisely, ''FORBIDDEN CITY''.

I therefore created this long necklace in Japanese baroque pearls (akoya) from the great East with a central with 'baked' jade engraved (the most popular stone in China) mounted with burnished gold and silver to give an antique patina to the whole jewel.

The 'firing' of jade is a heating treatment that is carried out to obtain an antique patina on the jades that are engraved on models inspired by the imperial eras.

Because the central jade has two different faces, to be able to enjoy the view of both, I created the upper frieze with two equally usable sides, but one in the negative of the other: one side is in gold with burnished silver friezes, and the other is in burnished silver with gold decorations.

Parts in 750 / °° yellow gold and burnished 925 / °° silver, they are all worked and embossed with techniques I invented in my laboratory, obviously by hand and with traditional equipment.
