Large lapis lazuli necklace, pink opal and yellow gold

This new one necklace I composed it starting from a thread of intense blue stone cut into degrading cylinders with a matt finish.

The choker is in lapislazzuli cut into cylinders from 5 a 8 mm in diameter, alternating with pink coral spheres, threaded with nylon covered steel cable. The total length is cm 48.

For the large central one I cut two rectangular cabouchons with rounded ends: one in lapis lazuli and one in pink Andean opal, to recall the shape of the cylinders of the necklace. I mounted the two cabouchons in yellow gold wire and plate, playing on the repetition of shapes and the alternation of empty and full spaces. I also included in the series, on the right side, a cylindrical element in pink opal, always cut by hand, to visually balance the color distribution.

The choker is completed by my usual gold hook closure, very simple, but functional.

As always, the yellow gold setting was made by me, by hand, in my laboratory, with the aid of traditional equipment, and it is tailor-made for this necklace.
